FAQs
- Is this curriculum only for homeschoolers?
No, the curriculum is for anyone who chooses to supplement their child’s education at home after they’re back from school. It’s great for parents who wish to spend some quality time with their child exploring the world around them.
Our kindergarten curriculum aligns with global educational standards and slightly exceeds the expected level for a child’s age. This also makes it an ideal comprehensive curriculum suitable for parents who choose to homeschool their children.
- What is unit style studies?
Unlike conventional teaching plans and curriculums, Unit Style Studies integrates learning through interdisciplinary unit studies. Curriculums adopting this approach are usually organized into three-month bursts instead of the traditional six-month semester structure. The main goal is to eliminate the disjointed approach often found in traditional education where subjects like math, science, history, and language arts are treated as isolated islands of learning. Instead, each unit is meticulously designed to weave together various subjects, creating a cohesive network of knowledge that mirrors the interconnectedness of the natural world.
- Can I buy a single book instead of the full set?
Yes, you can! One of the benefits of following our Unit Style Study curriculum is that it's designed to accommodate individual preferences. If you find that your child enjoys nature more than anything else, then you can purchase our Unit 3 book from the kindergarten curriculum. Each standalone book is meticulously crafted to provide a comprehensive learning experience across all subjects while it delves deeply into a specific theme that resonates with your child’s passion.
So, feel free to pick and choose the books that align best with your child’s interest!
- What educational standards do the books follow?
Our books adhere to global educational standards, ensuring that your child receives quality education that is recognised internationally. The curriculum aligns with widely accepted benchmarks and prepares them to thrive in a diverse and interconnected world.
- Are there assessments or progress tracking tools included in the books?
Yes, there are quick-checks and fun assessments included after every lesson. You’ll find integrated learning activities that test multiple concepts simultaneously, discussion ideas to reinforce understanding, and even an opportunity to create a learning portfolio that showcases your child's achievements throughout the year.
All of these features are included in this Unit Style Study curriculum.
- What do you mean by an ‘open-and-go curriculum’?
‘Open-and-go curriculum’ refers to an educational program that is designed for effortless use and requires minimal preparation. With our Unit Style Studies curriculum, you can simply open the book and start the lesson without any extensive planning.
This approach allows for a more seamless and stress-free teaching and learning process for both parents and children.
- Are there any additional resources to help me?
Absolutely! We have a bi-weekly newsletter that is directly sent from Farida Baxamusa (founder of Brings Joy Learning). It includes a wealth of practical tips, 2 fun activities for your child, and reading recommendations from her personal ‘Learning Corner’. The best part? It’s FREE. You can sign up here.
- Can I preview a sample lesson or unit before purchasing the full curriculum?
Yes, we offer free samples for preview to give you a firsthand look at the content and our teaching approach. Find yours for free here.
- Is there a recommended daily or weekly schedule I should follow for the curriculum?
The Unit Style Studies curriculum is designed to be flexible. It’s based on an ‘open-and-go’ approach which means that you have the freedom to adapt it to your routine, however you want and wherever you want.
Many of our parent-users find it most effective to engage with the curriculum for 10-15 minutes each day, making it a manageable and enjoyable daily activity.
