The Unit 2 of our interdisciplinary unit-style learning First Grade curriculum, is designed to spark curiosity and inspire every child, whether destined to be the next mathematician or word wizard. It covers a vast span of concepts, from culture to money, graphs to STEAM careers, seamlessly blending subjects such as social studies, math, science and arts.
Building upon the foundation laid in Unit 1, where children learned about body parts, counting, emotions, and more, Book 2 delves deeper into the world of holistic learning. With a focus on problem-solving and interdisciplinary connections, children embark on a journey of discovery, applying knowledge from one subject to another for a well-rounded educational experience.
The Unit 2 of our First Grade set is divided into three sections:

From understanding place value to decoding the significance of time in society, children engage in creative expression and tackle time-based word problems with confidence.

They uncover the secrets of shapes, spatial connections, and measurement techniques, discovering how they permeate art, culture, and our environment. From identifying various shapes to grasping concepts like length, height, weight, volume, and time, children embark on an exploration of different measurement systems and their cultural importance.
