Would You Rather…?
Purpose: To stimulate critical thinking, enhance decision-making skills, and foster engaging conversations between you and your kids.
Materials Required:
This is a verbal game, perfect for playing while on the go.
Instructions:
- Choose a Question: Select a "Would You Rather" question that is interesting and age-appropriate for your kids. Examples include:
- Pose the Question: Ask the question to your child and encourage them to think about their answer.
- Give Time to Reflect: Allow your child a moment to think about their choice. Encourage them to consider the benefits and drawbacks of each option.
- Share and Explain: Ask your child to share their choice and explain their reasoning. For example, if they chose to breathe underwater, they might explain why exploring the ocean is appealing.
- Engage in Discussion: After your child explains their choice, you can provide your own answer and reasoning. Discuss any similarities or differences in your choices and why you think that way.
- Explore Further: To deepen the conversation, you can ask follow-up questions like:
- Switch Roles: Let your child come up with a "Would You Rather" question for you to answer. This gives them a chance to think creatively and see things from your perspective.
- Reflect Together: At the end of the activity, reflect on what you both learned from the discussion. Highlight any new insights or interesting ideas that came up during your conversation.
